From Cadburys to Chocolate Queen: Megan Fairley!
Megan Fairley's journey is undeniably an inspiring one, filled with resilience and determination. Despite the devastating losses she experienced in her personal life and the closure of Cadbury's Dunedin, Megan found the strength to pursue her dreams and make a name for herself in the business world.
After the closure of Cadbury's Dunedin in 2018, Megan saw an opportunity to chase her dream of becoming a small business owner. Armed with a Bachelor of Applied Management and a market validation on running an online business, she took the leap and started her own fashion boutique and gift boxing company. But her entrepreneurial journey has not been without its challenges.
Over the course of the last six years, Megan faced financial struggles and isolation as some insecure individuals viewed her as a threat and tried to sabotage her business. Despite these setbacks, Megan persevered and refused to let adversity define her. She recognised the need for self-care and refocused her energy on her own goals and well-being.
Today, Megan stands as the Chocolate Queen, bringing joy to others through her handmade chocolates and cookies. As a point of difference, she uses her expertise and experience from her time at Cadbury's to create unique and delectable treats. Megan's dedication to her craft has not gone unnoticed, as her social media presence, particularly on Instagram, has grown to a staggering 30k followers in under three years.
Furthermore, Megan is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a two-time Kiwibank Local Hero of the Year medalist. Her unwavering commitment to the mental health and well-being of New Zealanders has seen her raise over $68k for this important cause.
Megan Fairley's story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of resilience. Her journey from loss and adversity to success and giving back is one that deserves to be shared, inspiring others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams.
